What to do in June in Western Liguria

This June has just started, but…What does it offer to do in the Western Liguria?

This month opens with a strong hope for a real spring, even an anticipation of summer perhaps?! So a jump to the seais needed, but then many events, from Cervo, on the coast, to the hinterland, between Val Prino and Valle Impero. And then one of the event I consider most charming and characteristic: our typical Ligurian artistic flower decorations. There are more than one, starting from Imperia, in Via Carducci to Diano Marina and Diano Castello.

And if time stands up, what could be better than starting with …

1 – 2 JUNE “NuovaMente” IN CERVO:

Festival of eco-sustainability and psychophysical well-being , which becomes a macro container for many initiatives. You will find workshops for children, yoga free trials, guided tours of the village, trekking with donkeys to the Ciapa Park. In the streets and squares of the village there will be music, artisans at work, creative exhibitions, 0 km market in Piazza Alassio and Piazza del Castello and wooden games for children in Piazza dei Corallini. The initiatives are almost all free, organized by the Cervo Pro loco!

8 – 9 – 10 JUNE “EXPO VAL PRINO E PONTI “DiVini” in DOLCEDO:

Event that is part of the Valleys’ Expo, organized between spring and autumn by the Special Agency and the Riviere di Liguria Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the various Municipalities of the participating valleys. Expo Val Prino is now in its fourth edition and its format decides to double with “Ponti DiVini”! Therefore, as every year there will be the market exhibition of food and artisan products made and sold by companies and workers of the territory. All this in the heart of the picturesque village of Dolcedo, made pedestrian for the occasion. Also, you’ll find many laboratories for adults and children, music and other initiatives to animate the village on Saturday 8 June from 5pm to midnight and Sunday 9 June from 10am to 7pm.

In addition, the novelty of this year is “Ponti DiVini” which brings street food and wine tasting, with the excellence of the territory to act as protagonist, in the splendid setting of the historic bridges of Dolcedo and the courtyard of San Tommaso. When? Friday 7 and Saturday 8 June from 18 to midnight.

There are also many side events such as musical performances, guided walks like “The Paths of Art“, two different strolls among the works and studies of the artist community of Dolcedo valley.

More info and contacts on the Facebook page of the event.

15 – 16 JUNE “OPEN OLIVE GROVES”:

Initiative promoted by the DOP Riviera Ligure Oil Consortium on a regional scale. All the farms associated with the Consortium will propose, in these two days, walks among the olive trees, tastings, workshops, pruning courses and more. The intent is to lead the tourist to the discovery of the rural world and the typical food and wine of the Ligurian Riviera, made of olive groves, oil mills, farms, farmhouses, dry stone walls and breathtaking views closed between the hills and the slopes overlooking the sea .

The companies belonging to the province of Imperia range from San Bartolomeo al Mare to Arma di Taggia, from almost up to the sea to the beautiful high hinterland with its villages full of surprises. Here is the map with all geolocated companies.

JUNE 23 – SUNDAY “INFIORATE DEL CORPUS DOMINI”, IMPERIA – DIANO MARINA – DIANO CALDERINA.

If you are a reader of the “Ponente Ligure Mon Amour”, you know they are one of the favorite events of my land. The gifts of our land, mastery, creativity, devotion and attachment to traditions come together in a special, ephemeral and magical ritual. Artistic floral decorations are even prepared months in advance, as happens for that of Via Carducci in Imperia, to be prepared and laid on the street on Saturday night before Corpus Domini.

On Sunday morning, this year will be June 23rd, the floral display will first be admired and then trampled on by the parish priests, the confraternities and all those present. An experience to be admired at least once in life: the drawings that these millions of petals manage to compose. Bring with you the children too: for them it will be an unusual and curious thing!!

In Imperia the floral display takes place in Porto Maurizio, along Via Carducci. In Diano Marina in the city center and in Diano Calderina in front of the Church, in the evening. All the details, with the updated times of 2019, in my post devoted to the “Infiorate”, which was also awarded by Travel 365!

THE PANORAMIC WHEEL COMES FROM THE END OF MAY, FOR THE ENTIRE SUMMER, IN IMPERIA

We cannot talk about what to do in June in the Western Liguria, without reporting a novelty to families with children. One last little gem! For the first time, at the end of May, the Ferris wheel arrived in Imperia. It is located on the esplanade at the height of summer dreams (the bathing establishment with the swimming pool). Nearby is also the large parking lot of the pier.

Opening hours are only indicative for now: in the afternoon and after dinner on weekdays, till afternoon to the night (without dinner break) on holidays.

You may be wondering about the cost: € 6 for adults and € 5 for children. Have you tried it? Do you have any extra info? Write me everything in the comments!

If our question was “what to do in June in Western Liguria?” what can I say, it seems to me that events are not lacking! Enjoy your stay in my beloved West Liguria, if you come from outside. Or I wish to enjoy your land if you are Ligurian like me! In any case we hope that time makes us what has been kept to itself until now: the sun and a few more degrees!!
